Nebula Connect for Android is a wireless remote control app for Nebula smart projectors and soundbars. It allows your smartphone to function as a remote control but with enhanced functionality compared to the existing one.
What comes with the installation?
The application provides the virtual touchpad for smooth navigation, the full keyboard to write any text and all other standard function buttons found on the hardware remote. What that means is you can type your login details for streaming apps straight from your phone instead of painfully hunting and pecking with arrow keys on an on-screen keyboard. The app provides support for mouse and keyboard just for Android TV apps which makes it much easier to scroll through menus and select content. When combined with Android TV, an enormous library of streaming options is at your fingertips. If your Nebula device supports it, you also have Google Assistant voice command support via the projector remote. This means media playback and basic smart home commands can be done hands-free.
Here’s what makes it genuinely useful
– You can use the virtual touchpad as a finger on the projector.
– You can speed up search and login with a keyboard input.
– Buttons look like those of the hardware remote for quick access.
– Use a mouse and keyboard for precise control of Android TV apps.
– You don’t need to sign in to an account to start using it.
User will not see any ads in the application and will not have to pay for anything. Bluetooth device pairing and presentation controls will continue to function offline. This, too, has been incorporated into the design. As a result, it makes a great “smart projector companion” to take for outdoor movie nights or other situations where Wi-Fi is unavailable.
The Real Thing That Gets Used Daily
However, customer feedback shows some frustrating quirks that can be bothersome. It has been reported in reviews that you may experience connection delays upon reopening the app. Further, when your phone wakes from sleep, you will be forced to wait a few seconds before you can start playing again. According to reports from the community, users say that the new updates have removed functionalities. For instance, the streaming app navigation on Netflix is not able to perform actions that the older version could. Sometimes device disconnects pop up as well, interrupting your flow when you’re making a presentation or settling in to watch something.
You cannot use the app on a non-Nebula or non-Anker device. So, if you’re expecting it to act like ‘the virtual remote’ which works across many brands, expect disappointment. You cannot mirror the phone or launch 3rd party apps from it – just a «soundbar remote app» only projector. People are facing more issues with device connectivity on the new version, which seems to be a turn-off as it was.
If you own a Nebula projector or soundbar and want a little more flexibility than the physical remote offers, Nebula Connect is a must-have. Despite some connection issues, it’s worth installing because you can use your phone for more precise control, faster text entry and easier streaming app navigation. If you’re a Nebula device owner who uses their projector in a different room or outdoors, the app does still provide some useful functionality if you don’t mind the occasional disconnection requiring reconnection. For anyone who’s already in the Anker hardware ecosystem this is the app to go for despite its rough edges.
