How to Take a Screenshot
Here’s how to take screenshots on Android devices.
Method 1: Button Combination
The most common shortcut is a button combination.
- Press and hold Power + Volume Down buttons simultaneously.
- Hold for one to two seconds until you see a flash or hear the camera.
- The screenshot will be saved to your Gallery/Photos.
Method 2: Power Menu (Android 9 and Above)
- Press and hold the Power button.
- Tap the “Screenshot” option in the menu.
Method 3: Three-Finger Swipe (Some Devices)
- Swipe down with three fingers on the screen.
- You have to enable this feature under Settings (varies).
Method 4: Quick Settings
- To open Quick Settings, swipe down from the top of the screen.
- Look for a “Screenshot” tile (if available).
- Tap it to take a screenshot.
Where Are Screenshots Saved?
Where do you find your screenshots? You can view them in your Gallery, Photos, or Files app.
Device-Specific Methods
- Samsung: Power + Volume Down.
- Huawei/Honor: Power + Volume Down.
- Xiaomi/MIUI: To take screenshots of Xiaomi or MIUI smartphones, press the “Power” and “Volume Down” buttons simultaneously. Alternatively, use the Quick Ball feature to take screenshots on a Xiaomi smartphone.
- OnePlus: To take a screenshot press Power + Volume Down or a three-finger swipe.
- Google Pixel: Press the power + volume down button on your Google Pixel phone.

- You can edit a screenshot right after taking it on most versions of Android.
- You can share screenshots directly from the notification.
- For features like scrolling screenshots and annotations, use third-party apps.
